chosenas 2012  Miami Beach "Women Worth Knowing" Honorees by:

2012 Award Recipients from Miami Beach Women's Conference Executive Committtee
Sherry Roberts and Randie Hofer

The Miami Beach Commission for Women selects a few women each year who have made an outstanding civic commitment to our city.  Award Recipents must live and/or work in Miami Beach and have made a positive contribution to our community.

This year's recipients are Sabrina Cohen, Sherry Roberts, Elsa Urquiza -- with a Posthumous Award to Randie Hofer.  The 2012 Woman Worth Knowing Awards will take place at Dream South Beach Hotel at 1111 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL on March 6, 2012 at 6:00 PM -- during National Women's History Month.

SHERRY ROBERTS

Sherry Roberts is the prncipal broker and president of South Beach Boutique Realty, Inc..  Sherry moved to Miami Beach in 1996 and immersed herself into our community and has become extensively involved in civic affairs and is known for her passion, energy and commitment to our city. She graduated from from the Miami Beach Leadership Academy and Miami Beach Citizen's Police Academy.

In 2008 she was appointed to The Board of Adjustment and currently serves as Chair, and is currently serving on the Board of Governors, Advocacy Committee and Real Estate Council for the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.  Previously she served on the Beach Preservation Committee and is currently a member of The Miami Beach Botanical Garden, National Association of Realtors.

Sherry is a Guardian Member of Save Dade and was one of the sponsors of the Gay Pride Celebration.  Sherry is also a member of Lambda Legal and the Miami Beach Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.  She was also The Anniversary Sponsor for the 1st Miami Beach Women's Conference in 2009 and is currently a valued member of the Executive Committee Chairing this year's Mayor's Panel. 

RANDIE HOFER

Randie Hofer was a South Beach Pioneer who was a founding Member of the Ocean Drive Association, on the Fine Arts Board and a substitute teacher at Miami Beach Senior High School.  Randie joined the Executive Committee of the Miami Beach Women's Conference when it began in 2009, was Chair of the Mayor's Panel in March of 2011 and remained a treasured Committee Member helping us to plan the 4th Annual Miami Beach Women's Conference until her untimely death in October 2011.

In Randie's honor, The Miami Beach Women's Conference and nonprofit annual event producer, Women's Exhibit, Inc. have created The Randie Hofer Scholarship Fund to provide a way for Randie to continue to help the students, young girls and women in our community through an annual endowment.  For more information on The Randie Hofer Scholarship Fund or to find out how to donate: Click Here
