THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
CELEBRATES WOMEN’S RIGHT TO LEAD
THE FLORIDA CAMPAIGN
White House Project is launching its “Women Helping Women Win in 2010” campaign in Florida. The goal of the initiative is to engage White House Project constituents and Florida women in leading a political life and supporting each other’s leadership. The focus of this initiative will be to positively impact the outcome of the 2010 election cycle by encouraging the participation of women in the upcoming elections, increasing the visibility of women in the upcoming elections and highlighting volunteer opportunities for women in the upcoming elections.
The White House Project will host a Go Lead political training to give women the skills needed to mount successful campaigns whether they are candidates themselves or women looking to be involved in campaigns behind the scenes. In addition to the training the White House Project will partner with the City of Miami Beach and Women’s Exhibit to commemorate Women’s Equality Day in celebration of ratification of the 19th Amendment. In keeping with the White House Project’s belief in nurturing the next generation of women leaders, the White House Project will host a “Your Community” Day with Girls Scouts of Tropical Florida.
The White House Project will partner with the YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade, Miami-Dade Commission on Women and the Miami-Dade Women’s Fund to host an issue forum. This forum will help constituents better understand the hot button political issues that are defining this year’s election cycle and highlight ways in which women can have their voices heard on these issues.
The WHWW campaign will also seek to engage White House Project constituents in the local GOTV efforts through training and partnerships with local organizations like State Voices Florida. The efforts will culminate with a “Stroll to the Polls” spearheaded by the White House Project.
Lastly, the “Women Helping Women Win” campaign will seek to just that by connecting women ready to work on campaigns with women candidates in need of campaign volunteers through a volunteer fair.
