WORKING SOLUTIONS PROGRAM

The Working Solutions program is the Displaced Homemaker program for Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.  Funded by the state’s Trust Fund for this population (administered through the Agency for Workforce Innovation), the program serves displaced homemakers 35 years of age and older.  These individuals have worked in the home, providing unpaid household services.  While they previously were supported by family, they are no longer, for example, due to the death, disability, or divorce of a spouse.  Or, homemakers have been dependent on government assistance (such as TANF; WIC; Unemployment Compensation; etc) but want to become self-sufficient.   This free, year-long program provides the following services: referral to community agencies; academic counseling; computer preparation classes and other practical skills training; job search assistance; and job referral and placement.   Services are individualized, according to clients’ needs, and both the Spanish and Creole-speaking populations are served.

OUR EXPO MANAGER * NANCY GALDO

Nancy Galdo has lived in (and loved) Miami and Miami Beach for over 40 years. She studied music at the University of Miami and spent eighteen years as a flight attendant/Flight Service Administrator for National Airlines and Pan American Airlines.  She is a knowledgeable veteran of the music business, a professional with over 15 years experience working with major and indie record labels. In 1993, Nancy became an A&R Administrator for Island Records, eventually becoming a Manager in that department.  She administered albums for artists such as The Cranberries, Dru Hill, Melissa Etheridge, Elton John, Angelique Kidjo and PJ Harvey. Since 1998, Nancy has worked as a music industry consultant for small U.S. independent labels throughout the U.S.  Additionally, Nancy has utilized her communication and organizational skills as producer of many large weekend events throughout the South Florida area.
